The chronic inflammatory disease usually appears on the elbows, knees or scalp in the form of reddish, scaly plaques and can occur in episodes. However, the symptoms can be significantly alleviated and the quality of life sustainably improved with customised therapy.

Causes
Psoriasis usually develops on the basis of a genetic predisposition. Whether the disease actually breaks out is often linked to certain triggers - such as infections, hormonal changes, mechanical irritation (e.g. from clothing), metabolic disorders or emotional stress.
Certain medications, environmental factors, allergens or chemical stimuli can also trigger a flare-up or worsen the symptoms. It is therefore important to carry out a comprehensive diagnosis and identify possible triggers in order to ensure successful long-term treatment.
