Melasma

Melasma is characterised by irregular, brownish patches that mainly appear on the face and are often symmetrically distributed. In our practice, we use a modern thulium laser with low energy output over several sessions. This has proven successful in alleviating melasma and the risk of worsening pigmentation is low.

Causes

Melasma is caused by a combination of different factors. Strong sunlight is the most common trigger: UV and visible light stimulate pigment production in the skin, resulting in the characteristic brown spots. Hormonal changes, for example during pregnancy, due to certain medications or thyroid disorders, can also increase the risk. Genetic predisposition can also play a key role.

Those affected often find this distressing and suffer from impaired self-confidence. As melasma is often stubborn and prone to recurrence, successful treatment requires a targeted, carefully coordinated therapeutic approach.

Treatments

MOXI®

MOXI® is a gentle, non-ablative thulium laser that targets the pigment cells. The treatment is particularly suitable for stubborn melasma spots and ensures a more even, clearer complexion. By gently stimulating skin regeneration, the complexion appears smoother and fresher - without long downtimes.

The treatment of melasma requires special care, as the pigmentation spots can react very sensitively. With MOXI®, we use a gentle, non-ablative laser that stimulates the skin in a targeted manner without putting too much strain on it. What is particularly important here: low energy over several sessions instead of short, intensive applications. This allows the spots to be lightened effectively without worsening the pigmentation.

Another decisive factor is the timing of the treatment. We recommend that laser therapy is not carried out during the summer months, as intense UV radiation can reactivate the spots. With the gentle MOXI® method, the pigments can be gently reduced while the skin surface remains largely unaffected - for a visible, harmonious result that looks natural.

Biorevitalisation

Targeted hyaluronic acid depots support skin regeneration and strengthen the skin barrier. This can give the skin a more balanced appearance and gently minimise pigment shifts such as melasma.

Morpheus8®

The combination of microneedling and radiofrequency stimulates skin renewal in deeper layers. This can help to visibly improve uneven pigmentation such as melasma and harmonise the complexion.

Peeling

Specialised peelings remove excess pigments in the upper layers of the skin and promote cell renewal. This gradually lightens melasma and makes the skin appear more even.

Microneedling

Fine micro-injuries stimulate the skin to regenerate intensively. In combination with brightening active ingredients, this can help to reduce melasma and make the skin tone appear more even.

Holistic treatment of melasma

The treatment of melasma requires patience and a carefully coordinated combination therapy. Melasma is a complex pigmentation disorder of the skin, which is why no single procedure alone leads to a complete and lasting improvement.

The best results are usually achieved through a combination of different treatment methods. These include medical creams and active ingredients for the skin, special treatments in the practice and, if necessary, complementary systemic therapies.

Consistent care at home is a particularly important part of the treatment. Regular use of the recommended creams and reliable sun protection play a crucial role in improving pigmentation spots and preventing new ones.

As every skin and every melasma is different, we create a customised treatment plan for you that is precisely tailored to your skin and your needs. In our practice, we will advise you in detail and accompany you step by step on the way to a more even complexion.
